In 1990, de Young Artist-in-Residence alumni Ramekon O’Arwisters, then known as Timothy Taylor, wrote to David Hockney requesting a position as a pool boy in the artist’s Los Angeles studio.
Hockney’s colorful rejection letter, pictured here, is a testament to his creative generosity. Needless to say, O’Arwisters would still like to be a pool boy for Mr. Hockney!
